Selling a WWII Japanese Type 99 Arisaka short rifle, Nagoya Arsenal, serial 73646. Surrender bring-back with no import marks anywhere on the rifle. Honest, unmolested military configuration — not sporterized, not drilled and tapped.
Specifications
Model: Type 99 Short Rifle — 九九式 script present and legible on the receiver ring
Caliber: 7.7×58mm Arisaka
Arsenal: Nagoya
Serial number: 73646
Overall length: 44 inches, muzzle to buttplate
Series: not identified. The kana circle left of the serial is very lightly struck and I can't read it with confidence. Happy to send a macro shot if someone wants to make the call themselves.
Early-production features: wing-cut rear sight base, two-piece stock with grasping grooves, full 九九式 designation on the receiver ring, knurled safety knob. This is not a last-ditch rifle.
Condition
Mum: partially ground. Chrysanthemum petals are still clearly visible along the left edge of the receiver ring; the remainder was filed flat. Typical surrender-defaced receiver, but more of the mum survives than on most.
Bore: bright and shiny.
Action: cycles, cocks, and dry-fires normally. Firing pin present.
Metal: honest wear consistent with age and service. See photos for finish.
Stock: sanded and refinished at some point in its life — this is not original finish, and I'd rather say so up front. Two-piece stock with grasping grooves, handguard present, metal buttplate, sling swivels intact.
No import marks.

Configuration — what it has and what it doesn't
Rear sight: flip-up adjustable leaf for elevation. Anti-aircraft wings are absent, but the sight base retains the notches for them — this rifle left the arsenal with wings, and they were removed at some point. An easy correction for anyone who wants to put it back to original.
No monopod.
No dust cover.
No cleaning rod.
Not included: bayonet, sling, ammunition, or buttstock cleaning kit.
Transfer terms
Rifle is C&R eligible (WWII production, over 50 years old), but it is not an antique under the GCA — it is a modern firearm for transfer purposes.
Shipping to a valid FFL or 03 C&R FFL only. Send me a copy of the license and I'll ship promptly.
Face-to-face is an option for Idaho residents.
Buyer is responsible for knowing and complying with their own state and local law. I will not ship anywhere the rifle isn't legal, and I will not sell to anyone prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Happy to take additional photos of anything on request — just ask.
