This is not a wall mount or for decoration. It is a full tang blade and a pretty heavy duty cutter. It’s always been stored with oil on it and has been used on tatami mats a number of times, and it’s always been a really good cutting. It’s not bent, is very straight. As it is carbon steel it has potential to oxidize, there is slight oxidation on the left side of the tip which occurred within one month of owning the blade, I’ve had it over 15 years and it has not gotten worse or spread, and I can’t imagine think it will. I contacted the company and they said that it is very normal. It has always been stored in with proper oiling and in the proper position.
