Holy Grail Remington 40x Sporter Repeater 22lr

Remington 40x Sporter Repeater 22 LR
This is the holy grail of Remington collectors as well as rimfire collectors. These rifles are extremely rare and have only ever seen a few pop up for sale in the last 20 years. With very little information online about them most don’t even know they exist. These are usually a once in a lifetime type of gun some spend years trying to find. I know the price seems outrageous and it is a little to get attention if you are a serious buyer I’d be more than willing to talk better numbers. Like I said to some the is the Holy Grail of rimfire Remingtons and are extremely rare. The only reason I’m selling is because I need the money more than a museum piece if you have any questions please feel free to text me at 208-243-5536 this really could be a once in a lifetime gun. If you don’t believe me do some research on them specifically the sporter repeater not single shot or bull barrel ones those are way more common.

Remington 40x Sporter Repeater
May 1976 was when this rifle was manufactured only 629 were estimated to be manufactured. They made them in the early 1970’s to 1979 as a Custom Order Only. The extremely beautiful walnut stock is almost translucent and looks better in person with rosewood end caps.

The Remington 40-X Sporter Repeater, manufactured around 1976, is a highly desirable, custom-shop quality bolt-action rifle, bridging the gap between precision target shooting and field use. These rifles, especially those from the 1970s, were designed to offer 40-X accuracy in a lighter, traditional format.

Key Features of the 1976 40-X Sporter Repeater:
* Action: Built on the superior 40-XB action (introduced 1965), which is a refined version of the Model 700, featuring high-precision tolerances.
* Barrel: Typically fitted with a 24-inch tapered sporter barrel, often drilled and tapped for scopes, and frequently featuring a clean, sightless profile.
* Stock: Features a checkered walnut stock with a Monte Carlo comb, raised cheekpiece, and often a rosewood grip cap and forearm tip.
* Feed System: Unlike the standard single-shot 40-X target rifles, the Sporter features a magazine-fed system, often described as a 5-round internal magazine, sometimes noted as a blind magazine in certain configurations.
* Condition: These rifles are known for superior fit and finish, often described as "deluxe" compared to standard utilitarian target rifles.
* per John Gyde there were 629 sporter repeaters from 1970-1980. First serial number was 35704B and last was 52000B.
